My fiancee has been having issues with our 04 G35 6MT not wanting to start sometimes when the engine is warm, and sometimes not wanting to start at all, then stinking of unburned fuel when it does. I'm 800 miles away, so I can't really do much to troubleshoot it, but she talked to a friend who supposedly works on Nissans and Infinitis and he says there's a sensor that detects if the oil is too dirty and isn't supposed to let the car start at all, and he thinks this sensor is malfunctioning. Now I'm new to the brand before I bought this car, but I've never heard of such a thing before. Is this for real, or is the guy out of his mind? It surely sounds like some sort of sensor or electrical/fuel issue that she's having, but the dealership up where she's at refuses to work with my warranty company for whatever reason, so we're kinda stuck. :gotme

No such sensor...lol! So, the car will not start with a warm engine. Does it try and turn over?

The only sensor that could give you problems is the clutch sensor (it makes sure the clutch is depressed before allowing the car to start). However, this doesn't explain the fuel smell.

Lets get one of our techs to try and help out...

Lol. Yeah I've never heard of such a thing either. I just posted over in the Mechanic forum, hopefully someone there can help me out.

yea i dont think there's a "dirty oil sensor" in our cars. but you should ask your friend to check your blinker light fluid for you, because when it gets dirty it sometimes doesn't let you make turns.

I was thinking maybe it's some sort of sensor in the fuel system

See what if any codes are displayed

She'll love you long time

Or she can take it to the dealer

It hasn't thrown anything that tripped the light yet. Is it possible that there could be a code even though the light hasn't come on?
