This has been a problem with my old car too, my windows always get this nasty dirty film on them. It's not condensation, and no matter what window cleaner I use, it always comes back every week or so.

It's usually a black, sooty type stuff, right?

I've had this on my past few cars. Never have figured out how to make it go away permanently, I just use a really good glass cleaner once a month to keep it clean.

Hmm...sounds like dust to me.

We get a lot of pollen and dust around here, so I use a duster on my car in between weekly washes. A clean car is like a magnet for tiny particles.

Well, it's not black, more grey, but I can't just dust it off, I've gotta rub to get it off. It's a pain in the ***.

I never had this problem back in NY.

Several months ago, I posted about how everything, except the seats and carpet, were covered in a grease like spray. My car came off the truck like that. I made the dealer clean the car the 2 times I've had it in his shop. I hadn't checked in a while, so I went out and ran my hand across the dash and sure enough, a gray, filmly, dust coated the dash and the lower part of the window. I wonder if the blower is leaking grease or oil and it's spraying through the vents? I'm just guessing. I hadn't noticed until recently, because I hadn't needed the defrost until the last 3 weeks or so.

I don't think it would be grease from the blower. Blowers in modern cars are normally based off of fully electric motors. So there would be very little grease involved if any. I think by looking at the HVAC you're on the right trail. You could always have the dealer check the in cabin filter to make sure there's nothing on it. If there is, then that would give signs to what's being sprayed all over the car.
