Direct injection

any body check out the audi direct injection gasoline engines? I believe this is a new thing availible to consumers. pretty cool, they can run something like 12:1 compression on pump gas. Audi's car doesnt yield any record breaking power ratings, but its nice to see some new technology.

theyve been trying to do that with gasoline for ever, diesel is the only ones ive heard ov with direct injection, and they run like 20:1 with a turbo on it, but its good to seen soem new tech your right

I remember seeing an article once that said Mitsubishi is also hard at work getting GDI to work. The trick is that you can continue to add fuel even during the compression stroke. As you add fuel while the piston is moving up it swirls better.

most of the foreign companies have been working on it for a while. mazda has a system on the new mazdaspeed6 i think. the advantages are pretty great, especially on turbocharged engines. emissions are the main problem with it.
