direct ignition

hi,im new here...i was wondering if any of you SR20DET owners ever use a direct ignition system for your engine?

If by direct ignition you mean a distrubutorless coil-over-plug setup that is what all SR20s utilize.

We do not use a GM style twin tower system which is probably what you are referring to. Both MSD and XDi are modeled off the twin tower method of Direct Ignition. Due to the diode setup and Ignition control of the ECM it takes a decent amount of time rewiring and a nice pile of parts to convert the system over but it can be done. I have seen quite a few DIS4+ setups on prostock and faster cars but unless you are looking for greater than 700whp a Split-Fire Ignition amplifier and COP setup will to you nicely.
