While getting my oil changed today Billy Bob, his brother daryll and his other brother daryll apparently spilled oil all around my motor. I cleaned up around the top where I can reach, but I'm getting a little smoke coming from the side of the engine, probably around the exhaust manifold. Am I ok to just let it burn off, or is there a fire hazard here? I'm definately not going back to this place again. Last time I went some kid put 40 psi in my tires all the way around after I told him that I specifically want 35 in the front and 34 in the rear. After calling them up and explaining that either the pressure gauge is way off or the kid can't read and further explaining that human error is ALWAYS more likely then equipment error, i haven't seen the kid since.

How can you drive into a place and add air pressue, the tires are hot [but who knows how hot or cold] and change 1psi for every 10F change in 4 hour stablized ambient [with single ply side walls]......you air them up to 40 psi and hope they drop to 35 psi the next morning after the car has sit all night. Then adjust them with your PRECISION barometer adjusted pressure gauge.

I like all my tires to be at 40 psi [except the AVS which have a 36 psi max so 33.0 psi] after driving an hour--4 hours at 70 mph in the heat of the day. They vary every morning depending on ambient................you do check your tires every day before beginning the commuter road race [just kidding].

Owners would have a fit if they had real tire pressure monitoring not understanding Boyle's Gas Law.

well, the tires were warm when they were checked and warm when I checked myself at home. Most likely they were perfect when I rolled in and didn't need extra air. I check them weekly when they're cold. Over a month span I haven't even had a 1psi drop like expected. As the weather begins to get cooler I'll start checking bi-weekly to compensate for the lower temps.

You don't think I'll have a problem with the oil burn off do you?

I'd get a can or two of brake parts cleaner and clean everything up. I doubt the oil would hurt anything, but it will sure stink and attract dirt.

Engine oil will burn off slowly & cause a big stink in the process.

The best solution is to get a can of Spray degreaser & soak the area under the oil filter, & anywhere else you may see a slick, let the degreaser soak for about 5 minutes, & then just pour warm water over the affected area, making sure not to get water on the electricals.
