My 2017 Frontier met an untimely death so I just purchased a 2019 with 6,629 miles. The oil was a little low on the dip stick so I changed it not knowing the history. Manual calls for 4.7 qts with filter change. I went ahead put in the full 5 qts like I always did with my 17 and surprise, it still shows low on the dip stick. Anyone else experience this? Known issue? I'm going to check with the local Nissan dealer to see if it has the correct dip stick.

2nd question. I bought it from a Mercedes Benz dealer. Is there some way I can activate the remainder of the factory warranty for me?

I haven't heard about any issues with the sticks, but I'll check in ASIST and post back if I find anything.

Vis the warranty, it doesn't matter who you bought it from, if it's still under the time and mileage then the factory warranty applies. The only exceptions are vehicles that have been blacklisted due to collision or abuse. You can check on that by calling any Nissan dealer or Nissan Consumer Affairs and having them pull up the history for your VIN.

Thanks VStar. No collisions or abuse so I should be good to go. Got window vent visors (in channel of course), bed rail covers and fog lights ordered. Any advice on remote lock and power window kits? Wife already fussing about the manual locks and windows.

PRO TIP: These questions should be posted as their own topic. That way it will be easier to find by anyone else that may have an answer, or interested in how to do it as well.

You're most welcome. Adding power locks and windows (especially with remote capability) gets complicated because Nissan doesn't use generic harnesses with the unused connectors taped back. That means upgrading to the factory setup will most likely mean changing both Door Harnesses, the Main Harness, and possibly the BCM. The door connections will generally be identical for all trim levels, but the lock and window wire positions will be un-stuffed. Your best bet would be to gut a pair of JY doors for a complete set of switches, door harnesses, lock actuators, and regulators with motors, then add the needed wires externally to the Main Harness under the dash. Then see if it works, if not then your BCM will need an upgrade too. You're talking about a big, complicated exercise no matter how you cut it.

The other option for door locks is to get a universal kit that comes with a separate remote. The kits are actually very inexpensive, but of course the mechanical hookup and linkages will need a lot of measuring, fabricating and fiddling:

For windows, your best option is still to raid the JY for a set of power window regulators, but add your own switches and relays instead of trying to duplicate the factory setup.

I checked with Nissan and the dip stick is the correct part number???? Maybe it's defective?

That's always possible. It's also possible the "long" oil filter got installed when the OE was the "short" type, or that someone added an aux oil cooler to it so it needs more oil. If your engine is a VQ then I'd drop by a dealership and see if they have another VQ to compare sticks. The same one (11140-EA20B) fits '05~'19 Fronties, '05~'12 Pathies and '05~'15 Xterras. If you have the QR that's not so easy, the stick only fits '17~'19 Fronties (11140-EA00A).

I have a QR with the EA00A dip stick. 65F0E filter was on the truck and that is what I used when I changed the oil. I don't believe anything has been added to the truck but I'll check for a cooler. Thanks again.

Maybe it is a defective stick or tube, then. We're running out of options, I seriously doubt anyone would have messed with the pan on a QR.

Fill it to just below 'full" and go put some miles on it.

BTW, I was today years old when I learned Nissan was still building 4-banger Frontiers.

Mystery solved! My driveway has a slant. On all my other vehicles over the years (including the 2017 Frontier) this has caused them to read slightly high when I checked the oil. For some unknown reason it causes this truck to read low. Shows full when read on a level surface.
