Dinan sucks (in other words I need a bypass valve)

Want to talk about non-Nissan cars? Here's the place!

Yeah so Dinan, they're an in house tuner of sorts for BMW, fails at engineering.

No bypass valve on thier old Powerdyne kit for the e36 M3 means I had to rebuild my supercharger again.

I need some advice on what type to go with because space is major concern (especially if/when I decide to aftercool it next spring).

A bypass valve fills the same role as a BOV except it operates slightly differently and always recirculates. For some reason they're open at idle but when you hit the gas they close and when you let off they open and recirculate the pressurized air.

A BOV would do the same thing (as long as it's recirculated) since it doesn't matter if it's open at idle or not I just don't want anymore dead bearins from letting off the gas at 7k.

Also after whatever it is gets recirculated it won't make as much noise right? So something like an SSQV wouldn't be to bad. However, I don't think it will fit. I've seen very few BOV's or BPV's in person btw.

This is where it will have to fit if I put an aftercooler into the system next spring. The bypass valve in the picture is an Active Autowerks valve (It's connecting the two red hoses and it's $$$) and I'd like something of comparable quality (or better) for less money because it's Japanese in origin.

Here's what I'm thinking...

If I buy a typical BOV w/ a steel mounting flange I can weld a short section of pipe to it that I can put a hose on like in the picture above. This shouldn't hurt anything and will be cheaper than AA's stuff.

Is this, in referance to the HKS SSQV all hype, "dual stage pull type relief valves that by design do not leak under high boost conditions or under idle vacuum and is actuated by pressure alterations to ensure a quick primary and secondary valve response. For maximum performance, the HKS SSQV incorporates both a small primary valve for ultra quick activation, along with a larger secondary valve for additional discharge capacity. The SSQV is engineered to initially open the small primary valve at light throttle and load conditions, then sequentially opens the secondary valve for additional relief capacity under high boost and load conditions." Or does it really work well because if it does it sounds like it would be perfect for a cenrtifugal supercharger that sees low boost and high boost throughout the RPM range. I need some feedback and would like to be better informed before I talk to tehe guys at Enjuku about this. I hate wasting peoples time if I can avoid it.

Should work exactly like you think it will with the flange, let me get you a pic of the SSQV that I just put on my buddy's evo, it's got the recirc kit and there's no need for a steel pipe... I just put 2 SSQV's on cars recently and ones on an EVO (18lbs) and the other is a civic on 6. The small primary valve basically is for light load conditions. Under full boost it will pop the larger valve. This unit has an adjustment bolt to adjust the tension of the of the spring against the diaphragm.

That'd be great! If I can run it like I think I can (connected to a pair of hoses) I expect it will be perfect for my application.

Do you have the pic you were talking about 240sx2nr95? I'd like to purchase one this week.

I'll probably be calling enjuku tomorrow or tuesday.

Thanks a bunch.
