Dimmer wire, running to gauges backwards?

tryin to wire up my gauges light source to the dimmer lights in the cabin.... but they are going backwards to the interior...

ne one know whats causeing this or how to fix it... the wires grounded to a bolt on the shifter

A quick search came across this

bought an aftermarket tach (auto gauge) and need to know were to hook the tach wire (green) to. I have connected the other wires (1 yellow wire to battery, 1 red wire to dimmer switch, and 1 black wire to ground).

Does any of that sounds close to what you did for lighting/dimmer source??

Another find

The dimmer pot should have three connectors. The centre one should be power in, the left and right ones should be the variable out. One of those will be at maximum voltage while the other one is at minimum. Sounds like you need to swap it from one to the other.

hmm... the real trouble is that i dont know exactly what all the wires are, since the sterio was stolen once, their all differnt... and a tangled mess

i sorted most out... but some are randomly dead etc...theirs a "pot" i guess you call it, (one big wire holding 3 little wires) with a dead wire (ground?)constant power (12v? dont know yet testing w/ a meter tom) and whatI thinks the dimmer power (but its backwards)

so maye i need both power supplies running to it??? its only a light bulb with a power and ground...

OK I brought home a testing meter and concluded this:12V: orange w/ green stripeIgnition: BlueIllumination: Red w/ Blue stripeDimmer: Red w/ Yellow stripe??????: Red w/ green stripe (ANYONE know what this is? no power ever, not ground)

now... Im curious as to why the dimmer (when spliced into) iluminates opposite the dash lights...

neone know how to wire a dimmer? are 3 lights nessisary? Im only trying to wire my gauges into the dimmer!Please Help!

hmm i didnt wanna short it... but the red w/ blue was power, the red w/ yellow was ground, and the dimmer works! its a negitive ground set up not a positive ground, for future reference, thanks!

Now that you say that I went back and re-read one of the "quotes" I posted, and now it all makes sense.
