dimmer switch test

hey. i have a 1992 hatch. im having a problem with my dash lights. they dont work atall. fuse ok ect.i think the timer control box is o.k. but just to test could i in theroy disscont the switch and hard wire a 15amp switch and flick it on just to see if the wiring is ok cause it may be the switch.cause in theroy like a kitchen dimmer its the switch replace with a normal switch and lights on full without any inbetween.your thoughts would be appreciated.

if you checked all the fuses and they are alright, there is a white box under the fuse box on the driver side that controls the dash lights. replace that box. that should fix your issue. go to this link it should help you out. http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=158162

thanks man. owe u a million. grabbed my soldier iron and fixed it in 5 minutes including removing the box from car poping out of case and rewiring and reinstall... saved me 200 at the dealer for a new one!!!
