I had LED lights under the foot for a while. and it was wired to dimmer switch so that it will turn on when the headlight is on. But now dimmer switch wont work, so all the LEDs are off. I checked the fuse but they look all fine.

so first I want to try to fix dimmer switch issue. does anyone know what's wrong with it? Do I simply replace it?

second, I hardly ever use dimmer switch if it werent for the LEDs.
So I'm considering wiring the LEDs to somewhere else. But I have no clue where I should wire them to so that LEDs turn on when I turn on the engines. Ideally, I want LEDs to turn on when the headlights are on, but if not possible, its ok to turn on when the engines is on. I was thinking about getting power from 12V cigar. But I don't know how to do that. Does anyone know how to do that?
or maybe getting power from fuse box But once again, I dont know how to do that.
so I would appreciate it if anyone can help me.

Thank you so much everyone

For power, I just used a fuse tap on the radio fuse slot and grounded the negative wires to one of the screws under the fuse box cover.
The LEDs turn on when the accessories power is on.

If you want them to only light when the engine is on, maybe you can tap into one of the other fuses (e.g. ignition slots).

Here is a second idea. Since the glove box light is lite whenever the lights are on. Tap into those two wires. You have a ready made fused circuit. Remove the 8 screws securing the box and you'll see a green/black wire on top. Splice in.
As for the dimmer switch, I'm no expert but check your grounds.

glove box light only turns on when the box is open, so I believe they would only turn on when you open your glove box. Use a multimeter to check the power going to your dimmer switch. I have a youtueb video on installing lights to the dimmer switch and i believe I show how to check the switch-

This was true on every car I've ever owned before my Versa. I can't speak for the SL model, I have an S.
You can check the schematics.
FSM LT.pdf, pages LT109 and LT112. There is no door switch in the circuit.
