Greetings all, recently acquired a few J30's and am in the process of fixing them up. Question: is there a bypass for the dimmer switch? Like I see four wires going into the switch (yellow, black, and two green). Im guessing one of them has to be (+) and the other (-), can I just jumper those two such that the dash lights come on at maximum intensity? Any ideas which ones are (+) / (-)? Also should mention that i've read/tried all the posts about cleaning/adjusting the contact points inside the dimmer to no avail.

Thanks,

A.J.

Did you resolder all the connections ?
That's usually the problem.

Nope haven't tried touching up the (solder) connections. However I tried that trick with the door-lock timer and it didn't work (there's a relay/switch on the timer board that keeps "clicking" whenever I try to lock the doors, so im guessing the board is shot). At any rate im going to hit the connections on the dimmer here in a few, let you know if it works.

Also, i've worked on a numerous cars in my day and this is the first time i've heard about the solder coming loose on electrical connections? Is there a reason for this? Seems to be solely an Infinity thing?

With our cars being close to 20 years old, all the heat/cool cycles tend to cause whats called "Cold" solder joints.
A tiny crack that causes intermittent failures.
I done both my dimmer switch and my MAF to clear up issue's.
Although my MAF is acting up again so I plan on replacing soon.

Touched up the joints on both dimmers (both j30's have this issue) and nada. Disconnected the dimmer and checked for 12v, Nada. All fuses appear to be good, will check for 12v across the fuses tomorrow (hopefully).

Welp all fuses were good when I had initially dove into the dimmer. Seems like in some of my testing one blew again, replaced it and whola! I got lights :) (on one of the j30's at least).
