Hey everyone,My tail lights come on, but when I hit the brake pedal (lights off) my left brake light is dimmer than the right tail light. Then when I hit the brake pedal (lights on) my left tail light turns off completely.

I searched and read that some have had problems with the brake light switch and/or the rubber gromit. My rubber gromit is there. Should I try a new brake light switch? Any other ideas?

Could be the wrong type of bulbs. I've had that happen with used cars I've bought, or even changing the bulbs not knowing the new one was the wrong type.

Ah yes, I read that too. I put the bulbs from the right tail light in to the left tail light and still have the same problem. I will check to make sure they are the correct number though. Thanks

Anything else?

Well, they are the correct bulb numbers.

Anyone have any other ideas/thoughts? This is very annoying...

Another possibility could be a short somewhere. And when I say somewhere, I mean it could he anywhere.

I'm thinking on some different things here but, I have a truck that s*** like that Happened to a while ago. The cause was some bad wiring plus a fried chip. I mean, this thing was going nuts, lighting up when you blew the horn, random windshield wiping, all kinds of crazy whathaveyou.

Check your fuses, and if there's any sign of corrosion or compromise of any kind, replace them. I would also recommend getting 360 degree superbright LED bulbs, no dimness problems there! I replaced by taillights with them and they rock!

open your taillights backing plate up. the ground cables come loose/arc and cause burns.

SUPER common on 240's... but MOST of the people on here are just guessing. i've fixed 3 of my own s13's with this issue and 3 others.

start there.
