Here's the deal; my brother has scored me a set of Yokohama A008R's that are in excellent condition. They are a super-sticky tire (80 treadwear rating) that are free. 205 55 16 in front and 225 50 16 in the rear. My dilemma is that I don't have any 16" wheels and I don't want to put much money into a set of wheels, but I want those tires!

The only wheels I have found that have any kind of decent offset are used JDM wheels that may or may not be f'ed up. And of course they're overpriced.

So do I a) wait to mount the tires on s14 SE wheels when I eventually do a 5 lug conversion or b) get some cheap, 4 lug wheels and not have to wait until I convert to run my stickies.

I can get a set of these for about $75/per:

Not a bad looking wheel especially for the price, but it has a 42mm offset so that would probably necessitate spacers for when I get a set of coilovers. Remember, these will be for the track.

Thoughts?

IMO id grab a set of 4 lugz0rz 16s for cheap, and then you can resell them when you do the 5 lug..... Then again, you may have the tires toasted by the time you get the 5 lug done anyway.

225's are too wide for stock 240 or cheap FWD wheels. If you can wait for 5-lug, get some Z32 TT wheels as they look great on S13's and have pretty good sizing for those tires.

Well, these wheels are 7" wide, so you could run a 225 on them and be fine. Not the ideal sidewall, but it would work.

Wes, yes, that's the idea to get some cheap 16's. Any ideas on where else to look?

Whats your status on the 5 lug. is this gonna be something you do like in the summer, over the winter, or at an undisclosed time or location?

4-lug 16" SSR mesh wheels are some of the most sought-after wheels for 240's so I doubt the ending price of that auction will be anything Repo wants to spend. =\

honestly Andy, the tires probably arent worth much, they havent been made in 7 or 8 years, and they were cutting edge a while before that

definately not worth getting a set of 4 lugs for, and since youre going 5 lug anyway you shouldnt for one set

what i would do, if you have them already (sounds like you do) set them aside for when you go 5 lug, you could get a set of 16s for the track and let it be, since youll then be able to keep throwing track tires on them

Yeah, that's what I've decided to do. I'll hold onto them until I go five lug and get some OEM 16" wheels from the s14 or a Z32. Makes the most sense.

Wes, thanks for the links bro.

I'd hold out for the 5lug conversion. And personally, I think the Z32 rims are hideous.. Get some S14 wheels, I think they look awesome on the s13.
