I actually did this on Friday. I have a very early 91 (DOHC), and I had tried a JDM SR Silvia one and one from a junkyard 92, and niether worked. Like nothing. Not even the idiot lights lit up right. So, I finally found a 91 analog cluster and I swapped it in.

My digi speedo and the illumination lights did not work. I swapped in the new cluster, and viola! Working everything. All you do is plug in the two plugs of the gauge cluster harness into the dash harness and you are done.

There is a switch on the cluster that allows you to switch output.

Did anyone notice that, it wasnt an s13 that the picture was of?..unless it was just for reference, an s13 cluster wont fit into an s12 dash..but i could be reading too far into the question
