Digital speedometer problem

My speedometer comes on for about the first 5 seconds of driving and then just goes out. If I hurry and drive off while it's lit up it will pick up my speed. I can also switch between kph and mph in this 5 seconds. The heads up display can be seen in the daylight reading 188 almost all the time. Any idea what could be causing this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Lol, I went through all 4 pages of results. Everyone says the speed sensor or the capacitor, but my speedometer lights up and reads my speed, it just goes off after a few seconds.

if its cool outside mine takes five minutes to light up and stays on till i park it.

sound like the capacitor problem to me. use the tech section to test it.

Would the capacitor keep my hud from coming on as well or is that another problem all together?
