digital spedometer readout is glitchy

I just bought an 89 240sx from this guy and when I turn it on the spedometer is blank. sometimes later after i have driven a little while it will just turn on. Think its a wiring problem? If so where can i look to fix it. Also when i turn on my headlights the clock light turns off, not sure if thats connected to the other problem or not. Please help, i need light!
