I've got a 92 hatch with the analog cluster. I swapped it for a digital cluster and the speedo only works when I have the lights on. Also the lights behind the cluster don't work. Tach, fuel, temp, odo, tripometer, dummy lights and whatnot all work though.

Is there something I'm missing here?

i dont know exactly how the speedo is wired but maybe you are supplying it power from a switched source? maybe try rewiring it to acc. or something that stays on when the car is on.

again, i dont know much about the clusters but trying to help!

did you change the cluster harness? im pretty sure when you do this swamp your supposed to get the digital cluster harness to run behind dash over to ecu harness

Power supply is bad. Power supply is right behind speedometer display unit. They are stacked togther. I wasn't able to fix it, but I was able to determine power supply was causing this. You have a bad digital cluster.

But you know, it looks really cool when it works. I like mine a lot, so there's no way going back to analog.

I have a some what similar problem. My speedo goes off sometimes. My HUD rarely works anymore. Sometimes when I turn the headlights on and the lights come on behind the gauges, the speedo will sometimes go out and so will the lights. I'm figuring it's a wiring problem.

I was almost thinking that it's from a SOHC because the redline is a little earlier. Meaning the harness may be a little different and I would have to cut and splice somewhere?
