Digital Cameras --?

Since we have no offical "off-topic" room, this will have to do.

I know that a lot of you have digital cameras. I need one soon. I'm looking for opinions on brand names and specific cameras. However I'm not looking to spend over $300, so I'm looking at 2+ megapixels, but must have optical and digital zoom.

2 I'm considering are:Cannon Sureshot A40HP 612xi

myself and two other guys all have sony's and have never had problems yet. check out best buy's website for good comparisons.

Yeah I have a Sony DSC-P9. Works so sweet, smooth, awesome. I can take 90 min of mpeg video to if i desire Never had a problem with it and its super easy to use/understand. However, top o' the line sony don't come cheap :P mine cost $700 with some extra memory sticks/batteries.

I have an old Sony Mavica FD83still works great, although I think its time to get myself a new one.

Nikon makes a good camera.

I'd say go with Sony.
