Compact Flash:Canon A80, which should sell for fairly cheap nowdays. It's one of last year's mid-level models. I use only Canon cameras. In a year, the standard has gone from 2-5x zoom up to 10x. Why not just spend $400 and get a camera you'll never outgrow?

for kicks, here's my Canon cameras: S200 -small 2mp 2x zoom uses proprietary batteryA80 -4mp 3x zoom midrange uses AADigital Rebel -6.3mp digital SLR uses proprietary battery

Last year's Nikon Coolpix cameras used CF. I have this years model(2200) and it's a really nice camera. The 3100 is a decent camera too. Just an idea.
