Wow. I haven't smiled at a game like this in ages. Digital is a free indie game that takes me back to the years when my bedroom was littered with computers and computer parts. The game takes the form of an OS of an '80s computer. You "play" as a kid who has just gotten his first computer. You locate a BBS and start exchanging messages. Extreme nostalgia. There's a great discussion about how much Star Trek TNG sucks because that bald guy is a crummy captain and not nearly as awesome as Kirk.

If you're like me and grew up messing around with PCs from that era and listening to dialup modem tones, this game will really strike a chord. Get it. It's great.http://scoutshonour.com/digital/

Would love to play but I know I would get frustrated...I was born in 87' so I used DOS for 2 years then went to Windows 98

This uses an Amiga-style GUI. So no typing commands, but the interface is simple and 80s-looking.

Well I beat it...

I had no idea that BBSs were a phone number you would dial and some would have 2 phone lines so 2 people at one time could post and read. That is soo terrible. To be honest, none of it really brought a feeling of nostalgia because I was one in 1988.

I like games like that but what took most of my time was reading and punching numbers to dial. Why can't I jut be constantly connected and click those numbers so it can send me to the corresponding BBSs?

EDIT:The dial tones brought back some memories, so it was cool...For the first 2 connections...

Because that would defeat half the point of the game.

You can mute the dial tone noise. The first message you get explains how. I do thing it would have been neater if there was a separate dial sound effect for every BBS (since they don't all use the same number).

Well my post before was suppose to be a funny, because a constant connection with a click-able way to get from one to the other would sound like the internet today...

Any who, I found a way to remove the dial tones completely, just click the dialing screen when it is dialing. It will go immediately to the next screen.
