sr powered s13b, lightly modified.

Last night I made one pass, boosting at 13psi, The car began to bahave mysteriously. I hit second gear, and the car (soon after roughly 5k RPM range) reved WAY up, but was not putting power down. THe car was also not spinning.

This led me to believe that something has gone awry with my clutch. it is a SPEC stage 1, like i said, i am only running 13psi on my stock t25. the problem continued through 3rd gear, at which point, i shut the car down and limped through the traps.

It does NOT behave this way when i turn the electronics off and drive at 7psi. So my question is, does this mean that my clutch is done? Is it possible that it's something simpler like air in the lines? The air theory is supported by the fact that my pedal is wacky as well. I have about 2 inches of free play, until the car gets hot, then the freeplay goes away. My pedal catches VERY high up. I have never smelled clutch with the car before last night. This seems to be somewhat of a recent problem now that I am actually making some power. Any help greatly appreciated.

you need a better clutch, try spec stage II at least, mine works great, but since its an SR motor, id go with ACT stage II or so. my .02 cents

im sorry... Are you a nissan master technician?

"you need a new clutch" is a little short of the answer i was looking for.

No offense.

I am not a search preacher at all.. But a few days ago in this, or in the Technical forum someone asked about a *SIMILAR* problem.

i mention this cuz that thread explained the proper way to blead the air out and set the free play.. something I am clueless on..I am putting the spec stage 3 in my car, in the shop as we speak, so I am hoping that spec holdsup better than that..

good luck

Why do people keep using these crappy Spec clutches even with all the story's of them blowing up after a week.

My freind has an ACT clutch that's rated to 267ft lbs of torque at the crank. He's making over 400ft lbs at the WHEELS and it isn't slipping.

I could dump my ACT from 5,000 RPM with almost no wheelspin and it would hook right up launch after launch.

that's my .02 anyhow......

I'd start looking for a better clutch

I have heard a 1000 horror stories about the ACT clutches.

Your telling me that you DUMP your clutch on 5000 rpm, your wheels dont spin and it doesnt slip? You must have one hell of a 0-60.. Tire size? lsd? Suspension setup?

get an exidy cluch it is who most of the companies buy their pressure plates from anywase and if you think they don't make one you just have to but a flywheel off a truck on it and your good to go also make shure they cut your flywheel flat it almost dubles your clamp load for better lanches
