Is it just me, or are the dipsticks on the AC really hard to read? It seems that I have to re-insert the danged thing several times to get an accurate reading. Unlike other cars I've owned, there seems to be too much dipstick tube oil that gets on the stick before it settles into the sump. That extra oil above the level markers leaves only a tiny indication of where the oil level actually is and it doesn't clear up on re-inserting the stick several times. Has anyone else noticed this? And why does the manual recommend waiting a full 10 MINUTES after turning the car off to check the oil level? Talk about annoying!

Why do you have to wait 10 mins, i think its so the oil drains back down. Its all up in the top of the engine

I feel you on the dipstick, that thing sucks. I can never get a decent reading. i think its just made badly. On my other cars it was really easy to get a reading.

I've had worse experiences.

Especially with transmission fluid dip sticks *sigh*

What the heck are you supposed to do when you go to gas up? Tell the 3 cars waiting behind you "Sorry. You'll have to wait. I have another 7 minutes before I can check my oil level and I'll have to read the dipstick at least 6 times before I know what's in there."

I have a few quarts of oil in my closet. i check my oil at my apartment. Why must you do it at a gas station.

With our 20 gallon take it should be about 10 mins anyways. So filler up and then check the oil.

Can't check it at home because my driveway is at a 45-degree angle and the street in front isn't much better. I usually check it in a parking lot after shopping.
