I have an extra set of calipers I would like to rebuild, does anyone know how much it costs to do this, the kit cost that is. Would it be a better idea to buy a refurbished set somewhere. Also how hard of a job is it, will it require any special tools?

It's not hard to do, it's just annoying and frustrating. You'll need an air compressor to pop the piston out and a block of wood or something to catch it. I'd just buy some rebuilt ones from an auto parts store (they'll have a core charge, but once you bring back your old caliper, you'll get a large portion of money back). If you decide to rebuild, the kit should be around $10-15.

fronts are pretty straight forward. rebuild kits are cheap as well. rears are a pain in the @s$ without good snap ring pliers. i gave up and bought rebuilt rears. sand them down and paint them if you have time.
