Hey team,

I've heard of a lot of 240SX guys using the Q45 differential in their cars, anyone think it would be possible to put their 4.11 diff into the G50?

If not are there any other alternatives for differentials to increase acceleration?

I hate to sound like this, but this has been discussed ad nausem in the previous posts.. The short story is that theres not really a drop in diff for the Qs.

IMO the diff is not the way to go, high stall TC is way better!

I've got a 4.08 that I just recently took out of our "new" '95 in favour of the original 3.54. Most of my driving is highway. The 4.08 really does make the car seem "lighter" around town.

This particular, specially built only for the Q45, 4.08 diff is a simple bolt-in. A previous owner of the car who is also a NICO member had it built at a 4x4 shop about 3 years ago. Like I said, it's a bolt-in which means it has the correct flanges for the driveshaft and the axle CV joints. From the day it was built it had a bit of a whine, but should just be a slight adjustment of the spider gears if the noise bothered you (my mechanic said they're probably just a bit loose).

The 4:08 (300z) is NOT a bolt in on the G50.

The one he's referring to is, it was bolted into his newly acquired Q45 (G50) until he swapped back to stock.

So, any 4:08 will work in any Q?

No, the output flanges have to be retro-fitted from the original (I think) as the Q has 6 bolt flanges & 300Z has 5 bolt flanges (or vice versa). There might be something else, too, with the input shaft - can't remember.

Nope.

It was "built for the Q" by a shop for the previous (NICO) owner, I was just confirming he has a non stock (4.08) rear that is bolt in if someone wnats to buy it.

Built in that it takes 5-8 hours of highly skilled experienced labor [plus parts] to create a 4.083 that matches [drops in in place of] the Q45 diff.

Been there, done that!

My point in asking the question was a statement like this can be misleading to a newbie. So he runs to the local bone yard, spends $375 on a 300 rear and viola, no fit! Lets try to be more specific.
