im goin to u pull it today for my j30 difthis isnt one of those "wat do i need for..." posts

what i was wondering is how do the lsd and vlsd stack up?i know about the friction of the torque heat the silicone to make them stick but is this going to resault in more wheel spin before it heats?

i plan to autocross eventually but i dont know which is superior.

any personal experience wqould be great. if it makes a difference i have a s14 with an sr on open diff right now.

also are all j30 vlsd's or are some just lsds?

thanks fellas.

ok, first a vlsd is a type of lsd. the v in front goes to the viscous part you were refering to. there are also gear types, clutch types, and helical, maybe more, can't think of any though. they all work a little differently and give basically the same results but with a different feel. I've always heard people like the helical lsd that is in the s15 for autocrossing, as long as you don't lift a tire it works beautifully. I can't vouch for that myself as I have a welded diff and don't autox. maybe this will get the post started.

I will tell you i hated vlsd to me drifting i could never really tell when it was going to keep in. An lsd to me was the best thing I ever did it is very predictable and I always seem to know what it is going to do.

thats the kind of answers i was looking for, i figured a diff that only work when heated wouldnt be as predictable all around thanks
