Hey All

I am curious to know what kind of differential does a 2000 Nissan Pathy have? Centre, rear, front?

Whats the difference in the meaning of locking differential? Does that pathy have this?

What is a limited slip differential (or something along those lines) does it have this?

I am checking google and searching the forums but no info

Thanks

pathfinders have a transfer case in the middle with open differentials front and rear

there is an option for rear limited slip, in which case the rear pumpkin should have an orange sticker on it. If the sticker fell off, you can check via dealer with the vin, or you can lift the rear off the ground, spin a tire and see how the other behaves

So does that mean that when it is in 2wd, only the two rear wheels are moving or only 1 rear wheel that is powered. if it is two wheels that are powered, they move at the same rate right or no?

When we are engaged in 4wd, the crack shafts which is driven by the transfer case, is it driven by the same rate, or different or specified rates?

Ok I was tryin to read this and comment at the same time: http://everything2.com/index.p...table

technically no, the power to each wheel fluctuates depending on road conditions, and as far as rates, yeah they spin at the same rate in a straight line, but very different rates when youre turning. The inside wheel is always going to make less revolutions than the outside wheel in a turn.... if u ever meet someone with a locked diff, have them make a turn on asphalt, it will screech the tires even at 5 mph
