What is the gearing of all and any OEM lsd diffs taht fit in a s13 chassis? and what is the gearing of after market units? the reason i ask is there is someone advertising a r32 diff saying it has 4.36 gears oppesed to the 4.08 of the stock SE diff

Stock gearing is 4.08. many infinity diffs have a lower ratio, and yes, some r32 diffs have a 4.36. I have a 4.4 r32 one and love it. Aftermarket diffs do not come with the ring gear, so whatever one you have in your car is used. Higher number will generally help acceleration, lower top end, lower numbers do the opposite. (running a 4.4 in a 300 horsepower car is generally a bad idea, but for my nearly stock ka coupe, its great).

I agree 100% with what naed240sx said about how the gearing should be set. In a stock motor, a high gear will benefit you a great deal. In a higher-powered car, you can take advantage of longer gearing. While it won't make THAT much difference, the ring gear I have for when I get the RB20 going is the 3.9x J30 gear. This way, I can sit in gear just a bit longer up top without really sacrificing any great deal of low end.

Of course, if I wanted to be a crazy bastard, I could run a really short gear and just sit at 4000 RPM on the freeway in 5th.

Choose wisely, grasshoppa.
