I had a slight accident and bent my lower control arm on the right rear and I have replaced it and was about to test drive it when I found out my car would not move when put into gear... When I put it back into park it makes a grinding noise signifying that it was not the transmission but possibly the differential that was messing up... I have no clue what to do so maybe you guys can help me out. On a side note the halfshaft moves freely in my hand and I know that is not normal for it being in park.

Sorry to hear of your problems.

While it dose indeed sound like a differential problem, would you describe the impact a little more precisely, please?

I got it fixed now... somehow the halfshaft had come out of the differential box but i was able to push it back in with minimal force which was kinda strange... do the halfshafts normaly come out by pulling on the axel assembly?!?!

And the impact was with a curb at 50 degree angle, it really messed up that lower control arm.

SORRY FOR POSTING IN THE WRONG FORUM BTW I'M A NEWB HERE!!!

Not at all, you did well. I am a little concerned if there isn't addtional damage to your rear subframe or differential carrier. Better keep an eye on the silicone filled bushings.

BTW, even the old geezers here can read, so you don't need to SHOUT!!! (See changes to above quote.)

haha sorry caps lock got turned on. Where could I find new bushing if some are damaged? The wheel still sticks out a bit but I'm going to get it aligned today so we'll see if that does it.

There is an archived thread by Daedalus about pressing out the rear lower arm bushings.

He moderates on the Infiniti Mechanics Forum, so may search ask there.

If its damaged like that, I bet maybe the halfshaft is messed up and/or the wheel bearing...

I havent taken it to get aligned yet because I think I'm gonna have to take it to a frame shop... here are some current pix of what I'm dealing with...Normal half shaft position. My right side half shaft.

This is obviously way out of it...And those were brand new falken ziex just installed the day the wreck happened...

Might start looking for a used rear sub-frame.
