I'm taking my 300zx diff apart to clean it and shim it, etc. The question I've been looking for an answer for is where exactly do I put the new shim?I'm assuming it's where I marked in red, since that's where I se a small thinner shim.Bigger Pic here if you can't see the first: http://www.vanillaslice.info/image...g.jpgIs that the right one or is it outside the LSD on the other side going between the diff case and the LSD? but that didn't make sense to me I bought two different sized shims from Nissan 38424-40f82 and 38424-40f83. New project possibilities arose so now I'm not quite sure which I want to put in. The bigger one is told to make it act like a 2-way LSD and the smaller like a 1.5-way. If I'm going to put this into my daily then I would want the latter. If I can score a decent shell for a new project, I'd put in the bigger one.

Last time I checked WC's pics of him working on his diff, were no longer working so I'm not sure.

Thanks for any help NICO

nice, found it and looks a helluva lot easier than I thought. I better get a new gasket as well.Another thing I found was some of the thinknesses38424-40F60 =0.80mm 38424-40F67 =1.01mm38424-40F75 =1.25mm38424-40F83 =1.49mm (the biggest)

my other one is 38424-40F82 and I don't have a caliper to measure it. so here's some math

There are 8 spaces (or part numbers) between the last two shims listed, 38424-40F75 and 38424-40F83.And my other one is somewhere in between. And there's .24mm difference between the last two parts as well.38424-40F75 =1.25mm minus 38424-40F83 =1.49mm = .24mm

so 24 divided by 8 = .3mm increments making my other shim 1.46mm.I think I'll try the smaller one first for a while.
