Ok first post, not trying to sell here ( on this site) just need some help.
I have a differential out of 1982 King Cab 4X4 less than 30k. I have had it under the work bench in my garage for about 20 years. 9 bolt has ND878 on outside ring gear has E35:8 JB 16 15. What do I have ( Md #)? and what will it fit? I want to put it on Craig's List here in town but don't know what it will fit or the value. Listed it about 5 years ago but everybody wanted to know what gears and other years and or md's it would fit and I didn't know so I just removed the listing.
Well I was cleaning the garage and back under the work bench in the dark corner it's the Datsun 3rd member, so I thought I would give it one more try.
Any help on this would be great, Thanks Scott

here's some potentially useful info from my 1981 FSM

In 1981, the stock rear differential carrier for a 4wd truck as H190A (as opposed to H190-ML for the 2wd model, dunno the difference) and came with 4.375 gears which were a ratio of 35 to 8 teeth which is a number I saw come up in your post. (Making the gross assumption that it's the stock differential, I don't see any mention of casting numbers)

For comparison, that was the same gear ratio that was in the 2wd heavy duty truck, the automatic trans 2wd had 4.111 final drive ratio and the manual trans 2wd had 3.889 final drive ratio.

My guess would be that this differential would probably fit in a whole lotta years of trucks, but don't quote me on that. As for what it's worth that really depends on your local market. Here in Oregon there has been a guy trying to sell a 720 transfer case for months and months with no biters, he's down to $30 asking price. Market saturation, it's good for buyers, bad for sellers. As for elsewhere? I haven't a clue.

Thank you for the info, the H190A is what I need most.

I see you have a Zcar. My wife has a 76 Z with only 33k but had elec problems and has been parked in the detached garage for around 17 or 18 years. Now the whole car gone over, it was in really great shape, she bought it new but quite driving it because of the kids. Thanks Scott

Pics of the Z? That sounds awesome. The wiring in those are stupid easy to work with.

Don't quote me but the ML I believe is a limited slip diff for the 720.
