I want to confirm that the fill plug and drain plug are loosened by turning left.

The problem is the fill plug, which I am glad I did try this first before removing the drain plug, is stuck. It may be because of the lack of space even with the car jacked up because it is an awkward position to apply a good amount of torque. Still I think it is the last person who changed to oil which over torqued the thing about three times as much as it should be. At least I have the suitcase muffler to keep me warm in the concrete box of a carport we have.

Righty Tighty, Lefty Loosey.

Smart move not removing the drain plug until you made sure the fill plug came out.

I just wanted to be sure. I did get the filler plug out but now the drain plug is giving me problems. This may be an all day adventure, or I can wait till next week to use a impact wrench.

Laying under the car makes me appreciate the quality of the vehicle even more, and also allows me to find trouble spots like a leaking bushing, possibly subframe in the back. The bushing has been consistently been covered in what looks like the liquid from inside. Hopefully these are not too hard to replace.

I always spend 30 minutes when car is on lift for oil change [every 90 days minumum] to examine every single thing.Heck the under rear has 40 rubber isolators not counting hoses before you get to driveshaft.

TOTAL Subframe replacement when silicone filled bushings leak is a great learning experience. Don't be sucked into a cheapy fix - with collars or hard urethane bushings unless you don't care about a vibration free ride.

Bushings are made of unobtanium and thus not available. Either a new subframe at some very expensive price (Nissan wants all G50 off the road) or the polyurethane ones from Energy.

Much more efficient to walk under the car when it is on a lift.

I can't seem to find unobtanium in the periodic table. It must be in the group of elements that the scientists know are there but are still undiscovered.

Wish I could do that. It would make things easier for this car as well as the 1967 MGB GT we are mechanically restoring as well.

The job is done. Had to use the muffler we chopped off the mg as a breaker bar extension which worked like a charm. It broke the drain plug loose enough to start and then I used the the breaker bar to hit the ratchet to finish getting it out. The oil didnt look too bad at first glance, but when it was all out and in a clear plastic bottle it was pretty dark, way over 30k.
