Does any one elses differential clunk incredibly loud? My entire car's stock (including that) with the exception of koni shocks and eibach springs. What could be causing this? It happens every time the engine is moving slower than it should be for the speed of the car (accelerating hard in first then letting off, also if I downshift and let out the clutch quickly).

more than likely, it's the differential bushings. There are two bushings in the S14 that go at the front two mounting bolts of the diff. In the S13, the diff bolts directly to the subframe, so it has no movement room.

I would either go with getting new bushings, or you can get a set of spacer washers from SPL parts that will make the front of the diff solidly mount to the subframe like an S13.

Just to echo what those guys said, it's definitely a set of bushings. The two off hand that i would look at first is the Diff bushings ($129 from SPL - I have them and love them so far) and then would be the subframe bushings. Depending on how far gone those are, you can either use the spacers or the full inserts from SPL.

After that you are going to start chasing internal noises. I would suggest getting this fixed as quickly as possible. I sat around on this problem and my diff is now, I believe on it's way out, and has a serious amount of clunking around. I can't be postive that the slop caused it since it was used, but I think it's a logical assumption.

I have both the SPL full aluminum Sub frame bushings and the diff bushings. I recommend both. The noise that people talk about that is transfered is minimal. If you want it quieter than that go cruise around in an accord.

I know this is an old post, but right as I was going to replace them, DISASTER. I'm finally in a position to replace these, and was wondering if there is any benefit in using bushings, or just solidly mounting the differential with washers?
