i love it when i don't know something.

so this started a few months ago, and it was off-and-on. after a night of hard racing, i'd hear a clicking sound coming from my rear-right wheel. there's nothing stuck to the tire, and nothing that looks out of place. during normal driving, it was fine. but after racing, it'd start clicking again. at first i thought the clicking was spontanious and random, but as it got slightly louder, i noticed it kept in sync with my speed; the faster the car was going, the faster the clicks were.the last couple weeks, i've noticed the clicking ALWAYS there, regardless of what type of driving i'm doing.i took the diff off and opened it up. the left axle doesn't move side-to-side much, but the right one has about... oh, a couple milimeters of play? give-or-take.i don't have a properly functioning diff to compare it to, and i don't know enough diffs to easily identify the problem.. obviously.

it's a vlsd, i don't know what car it came off of. it was there when i bought the car.what vlsds are common to swap into a '93 s13? i'm in japan, so we don't have the same cars that're in the states. most forums i visit describe swapable parts between 240s and other american cars; i don't quite sit in the same boat.

anybody have any ideas? anybody heard this clicking sound before?
