Is there any other transmission that will bolt up to a Q45 V8? Preferrably a a manual transmission! Just curious if there is anything out there other than the stock auto or what else will bolt up to it (Z32 transmission, etc.) Any help is appreciated

There have been a few people put a borg warner up to the vh and put it in the old datsun z platforms with an adapter plate similar to the one used to mate the mitsubishi 4G63 to a RWD supra transmission. Im not fond of the borg warner 5 speed b/c the ones that were in the z31 z cars werent that great. Some people claim that they have shattered their bw 5 speeds at 300 h.p. Not good for a VH, but I cant say if this is really true or not I always thought they were tough trannies. Ill have to research this some more. I WILL have a five speed on my VH and it WILL go in my S14. Peolpe say it wont fit Ill make it. A plasma cutter and a heliarc works wonders Anyways heres a link to one guy talking about his setup cant find a site though Ill keep you posted on my findings. I might have to make an adapter plate if i cant find anyone who makes one online http://www.automotiveforums.com/t52633.html

I assume you're talking about a T5? If so, I wouldn't go to all the trouble to put one in cause I'd be pretty sure to break it in the Q. These trannys are made for Mustangs, Cameros, S-10s etc. Not really a good option for a car as heavy as the Q and pushing the hp and tq ratings of the T5. If you really want a five speed I'd consider a Tremec TKO, lotsa $$$ but very versitile and has better hp and tq capacity than the T5. Or better yet (IMO) use a T56 out of the late Cameros. Six speed, double over so you'd probably be wanting some new gears along with it, but really a nice transmission.
