I just replaced the tension rod on the passenger side and both upper control arms. Come to find out I had two different tension rods in my car. Drive side replace by previous owner was incorrect part that should be for the active model.

One which is the correct one for the Q45 1996 Part 35F20and the other which was larger that is for the Active model.

Now I have been driving it for 6 years notice no problems.

Do I A. Return the extra bushing and get the active model bush and press that in and eat the 20% restocking fee and the shipping and the $5 extra I have to pay for the active bushing that is priced a bit higher.orB. Do I look for a used tension rod that is the correct part and press this brand new bushing in it??

Will there be any affect I dont feel a difference on the ride and I have been driving it 6 years.

Why not order the correct brand new rod with bushing already installed from scottsdale infiniti and return incorrect bushing- if you are nice and explain the problem, there is a GOOD chance they will waive the restocking fee- and you will save on installation as the bushing will already be installed on the new arm.- the whole part is only, what, around $135 or so?

Do it once, correctly- and forget about it.

Besides the 2 for active and standard, over the years there were specials to fix a drift [caster] problem. You never know what mix you will find on a 90-96Q as the units were generally replaced every 60-100k.

Most techs didn't know which was for what and installed whatever unit the parts department gave them.

Important to have before and after alignment numbers to make sure you aren't creating additional problems with mix and match.

My buddy has a press and I am not paying to press this one in that is free.

I saved close to $200 buck and he only charged me $100.00 to replace the upper control arms and the tension rods.

I have had the incorrect ones for a while so If I can find an in expensive arm I would love that route.

I have not had the alignment done yet at all.The car is not pulling at all is this a must. They can only adjust the toe which I had the alignment done 3 months ago or so. Is the alignment a must if I am not pulling?

Toe is only importatnt after the 0.0° thrust angle is established.
