So my car is setup with Midwest council's classing rule book in mind. And i know some of my mods are illegal in SCCA street tire classes, So do i still ask to be put into a street tire class?

- 8in rim in the rear - z32 brakes with larger slotted rotors- no rear seat

None of them really give me an unfair advantage in street tire classes (still running 225 width tire which is legal size tire on the illegal sized rim)

car is built and Legal for:http://autocross.mcscc.org/com...s.pdf

mods are illegal for apropriate street tire class:http://www.scca-milwaukee.org/...n.pdf

Whats the apropriate thing to do here? stay in STS knowingly illegal, stay in STX knowingly illegal - although less so, or move up to one of the much faster classes?

I know i'll be heckled at tech about hte illegal mods though its happened once before.

Well being a tech inspector for ALSCCA solo events......I have absolutely no responsibility in classifications. Its up to out classifications guy and the class competitors to approve or disapprove your classification. The rules were put into place but are loosely enforced in regional events.Divisional and national events are differant...you better dot the Is and cross the Ts.

thanks for your input.

I have 7 parking lot courses and about the same number of track days each year that i compete in with the MWC rules, then i hit 3 or 4 scca events a year at miller park with the other clubs from that area (miller park is an amazing location)

1st time i went there i had no clue about their classing - i had plenty of other events under my belt under the different rules - the classing guy put me in STS, but the tech guy took one look at my car and said "this car isnt legal for STS. brakes, wheels, and that engine - kinda surprised he recognized the brakes only to mistake my KA for an SR...

Im looking at the chart that you have, nothing is said about the brake calipers only the rotors. So is this saying you can get away with your capilers and stock sized brembo blanks right?

But because you have the slotted brake rotors and the 8in rim it keeps you out of the stock class. Ive also read somewhere that you are allowed small mods worth +1 or +2 points and stay in stock class by scca rules, I'll see if I can find the link

I take that back, my local scca club allows for a little wiggle room. Official rules are quite detailed in the scca rulebook. Its all about staying competitve, I want you to win me a trophy. I say if you move up, can you compete, or with some mods removed, can you still stay competitive, while improving your skill

One of the reasons i do the scca ones is for practice.

Either way i'm not competitive in the sts class. theres 2 guys with STS purpose built honda's that are probabably national level that always take the top spots at the miller park events.

for example, 2 days ago at my hometown autocross following the midwest councils class, i pulled a 1st in my class and I was the 5th fastest overall laptime out of 72 Total drivers, with the 4th fastest time being about .050 seconds faster than me...

Sweet congrats on the first place. scca is good for practice indeed. By reading the scca book, I found my aluminum bushings run me out of stock class. Im not sure what to do now, tis been a while since Ive gone to an auto-x.

I havent driven the 240 in 2yrs plus engine rebuild, Im 26 and Im still in bloody school. I hope this "higher education" after undergrad pays up

At a local evet I wouldn't get to worked up over what class you run, as long as you aren't beating anyone out of a trophy. Just don't be surprised if some one protest.

But just in case here is the 07 rule book:

http://scca.com/_FileLibrary/F...s.pdf

and IIRC slotted rotors are legal in STS, it is the larger diamiater that is illegal as well as the calipers (Are they fixed or sliders?)
