Just curious if anyone is running any insane gearing in their diffs.my buddy recently threw a skyline gearset in his diff (4.3 i think, stock is 4.08) and said the car is a little qicker and drives a whole lot smoother. I know some nissan trucks have a 4.636 gear in the rear end. anyone know if they will fit a r200 diff? AZHitmans final drive list says some of the frontiers have an R200A rear end, are they compatable?

I have had a 4.08 J30 VLSD and a R32GTS-T 4.36 in my 240, switching back to a 4.08 HLSD from an S15.

with the KA, you have the torque for the 4.08. How did you like the 4.36?See with the rb20, there's not a whole lot of torque to throw around so I figured shorter final drive might help some. I know the rb20's used to the 4.36, but I want to try the 4.636 and see how that works, problem is I don't know if any nissan make are compatable with the r200 rear end.

One of our locals has a 4.63 in his NA KA car and loves it. It is in an R200 housing.

I love the 4.36, but with a bar of boost, it kinda kills the effect - 1st gear is just a violent blip.

n/a KA get 4.36rb20 either keep the stock 4.08 or get the 3.91 J30 ratio if you want a top speed highway monster.

for a turbo car, you dont want a crazy high final drive because you'll basically "run out of gear" before you really get into the good part of boost, have to shift gears and start it all over again.

a high final drive works well on n/a cars becuase you dont have to wait for any power adders. its all motor

hope this helps

I agree, I run the 3.91 final drive from a J30 and I love it in my boosted 240. It really is a highway monster. My top end its about over 170, i've done about 160 with 1500 left on the tack.

well, being a stock rb20, the 4.08 kinda kills it on the highway too. the sweet spot on the rev band now is 3k to 6k, after that power falls off, and the turbo is out of airflow. So I really doubt i'll run out of gear before I get into boost good. AZ where did you and your buddy get the 4.636 gearset at? I've been trying to find a rear end from a car or truck nissan made that I could get relativly cheaply. I know nissan motorsport sells them, but they want an arm and leg for it.
