Hello there,
I'm an owner of an '89 240SX in the Netherlands. I'm currently replacing my dead ka24e with a brandnew (probably '94) ka24e which was manufactured in Mexico. This engine was probably made to be put into a Nissan Terrano. The strange thing is that although the're both ka24e, the castings are somewhat different. The original casting has the same round shape at the rearside so that it matches the shape of the automatic transmission perfectly. The new block however has got a best decribed as a rectangular shape on the rearside. The biggest difference between these castings is that on the original casting the starter goes through a hole in the casting and is than fixed to the transmission and on the new block the starter is fixed to the transmission directly. Does anybody know of these 'new' ka24e castings and if they are interchangeable with the 'older' ones?? As far as I can see (I haven't removed the engine out of the car yet), the bolts to attach the engine to the transmission are in the same place. The starter will needs some kind of adapter though to fill-up the gap where normally the casting sits between the starter and transmission. Any help would be very appreciated!!
Thanx,Ivo.
