Aside from updating the chain guides, what are the performance/reliability differences between the 91-93 and later VH45DE's?

Basically, I'm looking for a parts car to transplant as much as the Q45 stuff as I can into a S13. What I'm looking for is the brakes, LSD, engine, hubs, and anything else I can make fit. With that said, would a first or second gen Q45 be better to buy?

Thanks,Sam

Second gen... '94-'96. Revised chain guides, oval ports. Possibly some other differences, dunno.

I dont really think it makes much difference. The main differences were that the 94s were heavier and had even crappier granny gears, and also the ECU's were less advanced.

A 94-95 and a 90-93 with the same ECU and trans are pretty close. You might want a 94-95 because they have more reliable injectors to crappy US gas, and already come with fresh guides.

Still you want to get the cleanest one you can find! VH's like their oil changed!
