I used the search function and couldnt find an answer so here goes. What are the differences in the ABS, VLSD, and base model drive shafts? Can you not use an ABS SE drive shaft in a non-ABS SE? I should know this but I dont so any answers are appreciated.

length is different between them. in the middle of a 5 speed swap? you can use which ever driveshaft, although it may be a bit short or need a bit of motivation to fit.

Ok here goes.
There are 4 different dirveshafts for the S14.
One for Automatic w/o ABS
One for Automatic w/ABS
One for 5 speed w/ABS
One for 5 Speed w/o ABS
Now depending on your transmission you have a a few options.
You can use an ABS 5 speed shaft on a car without ABS but not the other way around. The ABS shaft is shorter but the play in the carrier input for the transmission leaves you a little slack. The non-ABS shaft on to an ABS diff won't work cuz you can't force the input shaft further into the transmission. Auto shafts are quite longer than 5 speeds also. Hope this helps.

nightkid, you would recomedt finding the right shaft, but i got my swap in the mail already, and the only driveshaft he had was Wo/ABS, and mine has ABS, so it should be fine to just use the 5 speed front half with the rear half i have already right.
