Differences between Ka24de and E blocks only ? ? ?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

I am new to nissans and I was going to buy a block somewhere and I just need to know how to destinguish between the de and e blocks . . can anyone help?

I just learned this. The difference between the KA24DE and the KA24E is that the KA24DE is DOHC (Duel Overhead Camshaft) and the KA24E is SOHC (Single Overhead Camshaft). The difference between the two is that Duel Overhead Camshaft is better for exhaust and it produces 15 more HP and the KA24E.

I also believe the DE has oil squirters whil ethe E doesnt.

if you're looking at the block only the SOHC has the oil pickup on the pan rail about centered on the filter side-if the front cover is still on it's even easier because the oil pump is hanging off the front(also on the filter side)

on a DE block the oil pickup is mounted to the front cover(with the oil pump) so there would be no hole where the pickup mounts on the oil pan rail
