I have a 08 Altima coupe and it has the VQ35DE. I have heard that its the same engine as the 350z which is the VQ35HR, buts some parts are just detuned. I would like to know what parts are detuned and what could be done to get them tuned or close to the VQ35HR. If I could get parts that are detuned and how they could be tuned to be the same if not closer to the VQ35HR. I hope to get a list and how they could be tuned please. Thanks In Advanced guys.

The VQ35HR is different engine than the VQ35DE the parts that are different are in the crank case and in the cylinder head and in the ecu programming. At this point i doubt anyone here know if those parts will fit into a VQ35DE or what if any benifit they would have without subsuquent ecu tuning, so you might as well forget about it.

Not trying to be a downer but some ideas are just unfeasable, the parts in a DE are not de-tuned from an HR they are different parts altogether you can't "tune" a crankshaft rods and piston. Your money would be better spent on headers, exhaust, intake, pulleys, etc, that will get you pretty close to the stock #'s for a Vq35HR.

The only thing the new altima engine shares with the HR are the heads. Same part numbers.

Thanks for the info guys. This is the kind of info I need. Keep them coming please. Thanks a lot

PS: Or what parts can be changed that will fit from the HR that will not interfear with the cars performance and will not screw with the cars CPU and throw codes. At the same time give me more HP and better performance.

Its worth a shot from me at least.

You can use some hr parts but heads would be useless unless you get all hardware and software. It would be costly and not really worth it. Answer is yes. Difference is both i and e have variable timing on the hr. so you would need the software to support them also.

I heard 80% of the engine was redesigned when they developed HR. It is probably cheaper to just buy a HR.
