I bought a 1997 J30t used and there was no keyless. I bought a FOB and it still didn't work (or program). So now I got a replacement "central locking unit" (keyless cpu) from an import junkyard. However, the FCC ID Is slightly different

OLD (The one already in my J30t 1997): A269zja072 (Part 28594 10y21) (has the letter "D" stamped in ink on the front)NEW (The one I just got from the yard): A269zua072 (Part 28594 10y15) (has the letter "C" stamped in ink on the front)

Does the J vs U matter?Does this matter?

All I can say is plug it in and try it... IM pretty sure the FCC id on the lock unit and the remote have to match...

what car did you get this from?

Dude,I understand your frustration! Now, tell me when you hit the button on the fob; does it make a beeping sound? If not, it could be that your battery in the fob is upside down. Remember, this is only a suggestion because this happened to me on my Green Q, but on my Pearl Q; the fob works but doens't beep. Just try to keep flpping the battery in the fob. Also, when you are trying to program the fob, are you pulling the completly out of the ignition? I just pull it out far enough where I hear the ignition "click" and then re-enter it. Remember to do the process EXACTLY as descibed by the manual and in the last thread about this.

Something like this:1. Open trunk2. Manually lock the doors (meaning hit the lock button)3. Put key in and out of ignition 6 times in ten seconds (listen for click in ignition everytime)4. etc... (manually unlock the door....)

I appreciate your help

However, my fob doesnt beep and it is a new battery too--and I made sure the right side of the battery was installed. Infiniti stopped having keyless fobs beep in around 1993-1994, although they restarted doing it years later? In any case my fob doesn't beep. I dont think any fobs for 1997 j30's beeped

As far as the insertion I dont hear any click. I just push the key in (without turning anything) then pull it out. Dont hear anything, never have. . . Should I?

Do you just push the key in and then pull it all the way? How long do you keep it in? Do you do this whole thing slowly or very quickly?
