Hey, guys first of all thanks to all those that have helped me in the past. Anyway to the question. I have been using Cheveron's 91 premium ever since i got the car, but recently I put in Shell's 91 and it seemed to have lasted longer than cheveron. and my driving style hasn't changed either, when i want to go fast i step on it. is there a difference in gas? one lasts longer than the other?

well gasolines have different additives. but as far as basic composition they are the same.

from the gas ive been using, i noticed chevron has lasted me awhile and as burned the cleanest. 76 is the gas i use second, and it seems to make my car a little more peppy, but goes down a little faster than chevron. i had a bad experience with shell with my old MR2. only shell gas has made my MR2 ping.

i guess its all preference though.

Generally, Chevron and Shell premium are right about equal as far as fuel quality, and pretty much the best you can get.

Of course, there are a LOT of factors beyond just the brand name that can impact quality of fuel, and many of those can differ from one gas station to the next--whether they're the same or different brands. Fuel from two different Shell stations might yield different results, for instance.

Upper-tier brands like Chevron and Shell tend to buy the cleanest, purest fuel, which is why they're generally more expensive. They also have the best detergents.

To actually answer your question, though:It might be worth your while to experiment and see if you can consistently get better milage per tank with Shell.

I used used 87 for a while in my Max because I was being cheap but I noticed she did not like it and I got an SES light that would never go away. So I started to pay more and put in 89 and the light when away she liked it a bit more. I been using Mobil forever but I think Shell has lasted me longer than mobil by at least 10-20 miles. but I guess it would depend on my driving habits on both gases and when I shift because I somtimes shift @ 3.2k or 2k. OR when I race 4.5-5k
