Difference between the base model and se?

i am about to purchase a 97blk 5spd base model 240sx. what's the difference between the base,se and le model?thank you

se has 5 lug wheels, front bumper lip (maybe), LSD (likely), ABS (maybe), sunroof (maybe), whiteface reverse glow gauges, and maybe some other stuff.

le has most of that stuff standard, i think

SE - 5 lugs , LSD?, Sunroof, PS, PW, PL, ABS

LE - 4 lugs, Leather seats, same as SE

Base - 4 lugs, i dont know about power door locks, or if they have tilt wheel, or cruise control

I believe they all have air bags. Hope that helps.

No, the SE will not ALWAYS have the front lip spoiler. At least it will hardly ever have it on the mcs14's ('97-'98). For the mcs14's, the SE will have white guages, rear sway, rear decklid, 5-lug, 16" alloys, most of the time it will have sunroof, and most of the time (especially mcs14's) they are auto's, and *possibly* the abs/lsd combo, but, with my experience, most SE's out there dont have this. The LE will have leather, sunroof, automatic most likely, rear spoiler, everything that the SE has, then a little more.

By the way, all things listed above are SPECIFIC to the 95/96 240 only, with the exception of - PS/sun roof/ABS/LSD (optional) which can be on both base and SE models. Also, im not sure but maybe some base models have a stock cd player. Not entirely sure.

first thing i'm gonna do is the 5-lug swap. second is to get a LSD since i'm puttin in a greddy turbo kit and all. which LSD do you guys recommend? i don't really have much $$ left after the greddy kit. so something cheap would be nice. thanx

when doing high performance swaps its almost redundant to swap in the stock S14 LSD in other words...a waste of time. What many people do (for around the same price) is swap in the 300zx LSD which i believe bolts right in.That's the better way to go

why do you say it's better to go with the 300zx LSD? You mean the N/A one, right? I'm about to get one, got a sick deal on it, even though I'm gonna upgrade to a Kaaz later, I don't wanna be stuck in my driveway with a wheel off the ground...

What I said holds true for 95-96. As for 97-98... you could be right... can't say that I have the facts on that one. If a 95-96 SE doesn't have a front lip spoiler than it was either removed or Nissan lied in their factory/dealer options list.

95-96 base models CAN have the stock CD player, variable wipers, and the other options you mentoned.
