ok heres my ultimate newbie post. everytime i read to try to figure which one goes where, it seems as if they both go in the front suspention. from the lower arm to the tension rod brackets. i mean i would assume the tension rod goes to the TENSION ROD BRACKETS, but the tie rod and end say they offer increased steering wheel cut off angle. this confuses me. please help me out.

the tie rods are connected to your steering rack and axle. they are part of what pushes your wheels back and forth when your turn your wheel. they are a ball type socket (like your shoulder socket) and they let the wheels move up and down without tearing your steering rack apart.

tension rods are connected to your lower control arm and the frame of the car. they control how much side to side play is in the control arm.

when the tension rod bushing wears out and the tie rod end wears out you get a lot of play in the steering. car will almost want to drive itself on certain surfaces.

the tie rod ends are the parts that are on each end of your steering rack. the tension rods connect from the tension rod bracket to the lower control arms.
