Last week my '93 SE starting blowing white sweet smelling smoke out the exhaust. I took the car to the mechanic and the block pressure test was good, but the radiator pressure test showed that fluid was getting into the motor. They believe that there is a crack in the head. A factory head is $977 (wholesale) from Nissan. He found a Blacktop in California that he has ordered. The problem is, I don't know anything about Blacktop Heads. Is this a good idea or should I make the mechanic order a factory Head.My 240 is a stock daily driver of over 100 miles a day. Thanks

you should first dissasemble the motor before you pay for any parts. all you may need is a $40 head gasket which is probably what it is. why would you put a sr head on a ka anyways? thats even more work for a pointless reason.

do what the other posters say, almost $1000 for just a head when a whole engine costs ~$400 or less? lol sounds like a bad deal....as j-z says it could just be the head gasket thats blown up.btw i don't think a head from an sr will fit a ka.

Yeah...I recently worked on a '92 Sentra and the number 1 cylinder was holding a good bit of coolant, all it amounted to was a blown head gasket.

Thanks for the information. It seems that the mechanic knows less than I do about KA's and SR's.
