These prices are my prices, its moreS13 SR20DET, 205 hp 2200 dollars.S13 SR20DET Blacktop, 205 hp approx 2600-2700 dollars.S14 SR20DET, 227 hp 3200 dollars.S15 SR20DET, 250 hp approx 4500-5000 dollars.

Installation will vary, 1000 from me ( in Iowa ), 1300 from Unstable ( in Georgia ), 1500 from Heavy ( in New York ).

As far as the difference in the redtop and blacktop S13, there isn't much, the blacktops are newer engines out of the 180SX. They have had some issues worked out of the ECU, but nothing vital.

A Blacktop S14 engine has a better turbo, is low port instead of high port, has better cams, puts out 22 more horsepower, is newer and the wiring into a S14 240SX will be easier.

A Blacktop S15 engine has the best stock T28, a 6 speed transmission, is brand new, puts out 250 horsepower and is a lot more expensive, the wiring is harder as well.

All the engines are a direct swap into the 240SX, theres also the CA18DET, you may wish to head over to that forum to check. With a 1997 theres always the option of turbo-ing his KA. There are no places in VA that i know of to do the swap.

Any other questions?

Yes, do those prices include transmissions? My friend has the automatic transmission and would obviously like to have a manual with his sr20. Are there any legal issues with having an "older" engine in a newer car? laos, my friend doesnt plan on doing more than bolt ons...what kind of gains can you expect form both the red top and black top with a basic boost controller, downpip, and exhaust...im sorry i dont knwo much about turbo cars being a honda guy...thnak you for preplying to my post so quickly...

Well, I would start reading thru the forums, its information that as you said has been gone over a million times. : )

Basically, you need a downpipe and exhaust with it, you also need an intake. Its just something you gotta do when you swap, you also need at least a fuel pump. I wouldn't do much with boost control as you can't push the stock sidemount and fuel system too far.

Basically, if he doesn't want to do much I'd say just put in the S14 engine and leave it pretty much stock until he understands exactly where he wants to go with his car.

As far as the legal issues, its illegal to put in any of these engines, regardless of age which is why people don't care. It is illegal to put in an older engine, but it doesn't matter because the engine is illegal anyways. If you live somewhere with emissions, you can pass a sniffer with the right setup, but you'll fail everything else. You'll fail visual, you'll fail smog. It depends on what your regulations are where you live.

Enjoy your day. : )

I just recently purchased a red 240sx se. I am already saving for the Sr20det swap. I do have an auto and I am IL so I am thinking of having dauntless do the swap...

How much extra would it be to have you change the auto to manual while you are at it?

Thanks
