Difference between Performance Mufflers ?

I would like to know if there is any difference between a $60 no-brand muffler(stainless steel) from any local discount auto parts and branded muffler such as Greddy, etc.?

Is the sound always the same, low, high, you know what I mean?Does the shape matters as far as been a fat muffler or flat dual barrel?

The most important part is the inside construction...You want a straight-thru design...Magnaflow makes a good inexpensive muffler...Usually a muffler that is larger is more likely to be quieter...

The other issue with the cheap muffler is that whenever I accelerate and let go of the gas, I start hearing blap..blap..blap...Is that also part of been a cheap muffler?
