So a guy has some D2 coilovers for sale locally, he said he would take $550 for them and im thinking about hopping on this
Ive ridden in two 240s with D2s, and the one that wasnt slammed to the ground rides really smooth

the only thing is he says he bought the car from his friend with the coilovers on the car, and his friend was the original buyer of the coilovers 2 years ago

so i was wondering two things
-is there a difference in the D2 coilovers from 2008 and the current ones?
-what should i look for before buying used coilovers?

the only thing i know to look for is if theres any visible leaks, or if the coilovers are all rusted and s*** looking, in which case i wont get them

I had D2's on my s14 when I was 16 (2 years ago).. They were retarded stiff (16k(f)/14k(r)). If they are a lower spring rate they might be fine but I will never buy them again..
I guess just find out the spring rates are first. 8k(f)/6k(r) are pretty comfy on the street. 10k(f)/8k(r) isn't too bad but imo anything more isn't too fun for a daily.. Obviously look for the things you mentioned. Another thing you may be able to check is if you can compress them really easily. That may be a sign they're blown. Check the bushing at the bottom of the rears if they're in good condition. If they were lowered by the spring instead of the mount, and drove on for 2 years, they may be on their last leg... I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong..

I hope that helped a little
